Recent coverage

Boilerplate, short

Svet Peace Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs small-group Socratic courses in literature, art, film and music for teenagers aged 14 to 19, online and in person. Ten students read one work and talk it through, on a sliding scale that keeps a place open for every student.

Boilerplate, long

Svet Peace Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs small-group, discussion-based courses for teenagers aged 14 to 19. Ten students read one work (a short story, a painting, a film, a song) and talk it through; nobody stands at the front with the answer. Its founders are St. John’s College graduates, and the method is the college’s. The organization grew out of a summer 2024 program, funded by a $10,000 Projects for Peace grant, that brought teenagers from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus around the same texts while their countries were at war. Courses run online and in person in Santa Fe, Española and New York City, on a sliding scale.
