Version 1.5, in effect from 20 October 2026

This page explains what Svet Peace Project collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to be read by students and by their parents.

Who we are

Svet Peace Project is the public name of Svet Peace Education Initiative Inc, a nonprofit organization registered in New Mexico, USA. Two people run it, and either can answer questions about this page: info@svetpeace.org.

What we collect, and why

  • When you apply to a course or community seminar: your full name, email address, date of birth, nationality (one or two), and your answers to the questions on that form, including which rate you chose and, if you chose the community rate, what you can pay and why. For some courses we also ask for a phone or WhatsApp number, to add you to the group chat, and for the country you live in and your timezone. We use this to decide who joins, to contact you, and to run the course.

  • If you apply more than once, for example with a different email address or a different spelling of your name, we link your applications into one record, so that we know your full history with us.

  • During selection: if we invite you to an interview, we keep the date and our notes from it.

  • If you become a student: your group, your attendance, your project, your survey answers, your certificate, your payments and any refunds (payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see your card details) and, if you are under 18, your parent or guardian's consent. We also keep a record of the emails we send you, whether they reached you and whether you used the links in them, and notes we write to run your course. We use all of this to run the course, to give you a certificate, and to see whether our courses work.

  • Surveys: about a week before your course starts and a few weeks after it ends, we email you a link to a short survey. The link is yours alone. You receive your certificate once you have completed both surveys and your project.

  • What we publish: survey answers are never published on their own, only combined results, such as how many students felt more confident. Our map shows the countries our students come from, grouped into bands, never exact numbers for a country and never names. When we publish a student's words or project, we use a first name and a country only, never a full name. We publish only some projects, chosen by us, and you can ask us at any time not to publish or feature yours.

  • When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address and which lists you chose, after you confirm.

  • When you take part in a course: we add your email address to our list for news about future courses and community seminars. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

  • When you write to us: your name, email address and message.

  • When you give: online donations go through Givebutter. Their form is under their privacy policy, and we receive the details you give them. We also accept checks, gifts through donor-advised funds and other kinds of gifts, and we handle those ourselves. Either way, we keep your name, contact details and gift, so that we can thank you and keep the records US tax law requires.

  • When you visit the site: we set no cookies of our own and use no advertising or tracking tools. When you send a form, we record technical details such as your IP address, only to tell people from automated spam. The site remembers a few small things in your own browser, for example your unsent application answers for a short time, and none of it is sent to us. Some pages show or link to videos on YouTube, and the Candid seal links to our public profile on Candid, a directory of nonprofits. When you play a video or open that profile, YouTube's or Candid's own privacy policy applies.

Photos and recordings

With your permission, and a parent or guardian's if you are under 18, we may use photos or video from courses on our website, social media, reports and press. This is optional, and you can say no and still take part. Unless you or a parent say yes, we do not use photos of you. If you are under 18 and either you or your parent says no, we do not use them. You can withdraw your permission at any time, and from then on we stop using them. We cannot recall what has already been printed or shared. We never put names or other identifying details next to these photos or videos.

If you are under 18

Our courses are for ages 14 to 19, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under 18, we do not contact anyone when you apply. If we accept you, we ask for a parent or guardian's email address and send them one email with a link to a short consent form. On that form they:

  • confirm your place

  • choose what we may do with photos and video

  • say whether we may keep a short alumni record for you (see below)

  • sign by typing their name and their relationship to you

We record what they chose and when, and send them a copy. We will not confirm a place for anyone under 18, or ask for any payment, until a parent or guardian has confirmed.

One confirmation covers every community seminar you join in the 12 months after your parent or guardian gives it. After that, we ask again. Each course needs its own confirmation. Your parent or guardian can withdraw consent at any time by writing to us, and it is no longer needed once you turn 18.

Who sees it

The two people who run Svet read applications and student records, and access needs a password and a second step. The teacher of your group sees the names of the students in it and records attendance and session notes. Teachers do not see application answers, contact details or payments.

We also use Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, to help us run Svet. When we work with it, it can read and update applications and student records, under Anthropic's privacy policy.

We use a few services to run Svet: for email, for hosting this site, for the newsletter and course news (Kit), for donations (Givebutter), for course payments (Stripe), for booking interviews (Calendly), and for video calls and group chats during courses. They see only what they need, under their own privacy policies. We never sell your information or use it for advertising.

Where it goes

We are based in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your information is sent to and held here, where the law may protect it differently from your own country. By applying or subscribing you agree to this, and you can withdraw that agreement at any time, which is also when we delete what we hold.

How long we keep it

  • Applications that do not lead to a place are deleted after 24 months.

  • Student records are deleted three years after your last course with us, or sooner if you ask. This covers your application answers, your contact details, your interview notes and, if you were under 18, a parent or guardian's contact details. After that, your survey answers are kept only without your name, as part of combined results.

  • Alumni record. If you agree, we keep a short record after that: your name, email address, nationality, the courses you took and their dates, your project and your certificate. We ask in the survey at the end of your course, or ask your parent or guardian on the consent form if you are under 18. Saying no does not affect your certificate. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

  • Payment and donation records are kept as long as US tax and accounting rules require.

  • Newsletter subscriptions and course news are kept until you unsubscribe.

  • Emails you send us are kept as long as they are useful, and deleted if you ask.

When we delete a record, we delete it completely. What remains are counts with no name attached, such as how many students have come from each country, so that the figures we publish stay accurate.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. Parents and guardians can ask on behalf of their child. If you live in the EU, the UK or another country with its own data protection law, you also have the rights that law gives you, including the right to complain to your local authority. Write to info@svetpeace.org and we will answer within 30 days.

How we keep it safe

Everything travels over an encrypted connection. Only the two people who run Svet, and the AI assistant they work with, can open applications and student records. Teachers see only what is described above. If something goes wrong in a way that could put anyone at risk, we will tell the people affected and the relevant authority.

Changes

If we change this page in a way that matters, we will say so here and update the version and date.
