Xenophon's Anabasis is one of the oldest adventure stories we have, written by someone who actually lived it.
Online · 4 Saturday sessions
More than two thousand years ago, a Greek soldier named Xenophon found himself stranded deep in enemy territory after his commanders were killed, and had to help lead ten thousand men home on foot across hostile deserts and mountains. His account of that march, the Anabasis, is one of the oldest adventure stories we have, written by someone who actually lived it.
In this course, we read and discuss the Anabasis together. There are no lectures. Participants lead the discussion, and the tutor guides attention and helps the group enter a conversation with the text.
A true story of 10,000 Greek mercenary soldiers who are stranded deep inside the Persian Empire and must fight their way home.
