A Socratic seminar at a village school
Sayalee · India
Read
Chekhov’s “Rothschild’s Fiddle,” set in village life, opened up for Sayalee how village people live, the problems they face, and the way they think.
Discuss
Discussing “Rothschild’s Fiddle” in seminar sparked an idea: to hear how village students would respond to the stories Sayalee had reflected on in the course.
Act
At a village school, Sayalee led a seminar on Zakaria Tamer’s “Tigers on the Tenth Day” for 10 students and three teachers. In their native language Tamil, they understood, asked sharp questions, and reflected under Sayalee's guidance.
This experience inspires me to keep adapting and trying new things.
